The Versatile Portable Generators for your Emergency and Recreational Power Needs

Going small is big in today’s world. Everyday appliances and gadgets are going pocket size and are becoming more ubiquitous. Who would have thought 20 years ago that you will be able to able to put a microcomputer inside your bag, take it with you anywhere you go and even use it to call your friends and watch television or listen to music? Today’s gadgets are becoming more and more integrated and, most importantly, handier and more portable.

Even gears and tools that have a reputation of being hefty and tedious have now been benefited by this shrinking trend. One such beneficiary of this universal shrinking trend is the electric power generator. If you think that power generators are those bulky, heavy and noisy machines, then you are wrong.

These generators have transformed into such small and portable things that you can literally carry it with you wherever you may want to go. Good news is that they have also become so efficient and well-built that you can use them for a lot of uses such as emergency and recreational uses.

Certainly, power generators are not anymore used just as emergency power backups (e.g. blackouts) as they been transformed into all-around equipments that you can use for other purposes that involve outdoor fun activities

So what else can you do with the small portable generators they are inventing today? Uses that relate to recreation activities include RV caravan road tripping, outdoor camping, outdoor partying, concerts, races, trade shows, Sunday picnics at the park, or any other outdoor events.

Take note however that the assorted purposes may require different amounts of power and hence different sizes and output from different generators. Each generator model are optimized for distinct levels of use compared to other models so anyone shopping around should take this into consideration.

For small appliances like laptops, radios, blenders, etc., small generators capable of 1,000 watts of electric juice might be satisfactory but if you are setting up to work heavier stuff like freezers and furnaces, you might want to consider getting anything in between 3,500-6,500 watts.

For generators that will serve mainly as your house backup standby power in cases of blackouts (e.g. during snowstorms, earthquakes and hurricanes), you may want to look at at least 3500 watts depending on which electric appliances you wish to provide backup electricity current for.

If you place more import to size then you will need to deliberate on your requirements very carefully. If you are going for transporting ease and portability (hence a smaller generator) you may have to opt for smaller models but at the price of lower capacities. The bigger your needs are, the bigger the generators go. Make a sound evaluation of your needs first before you purchase a portable generator.
